We zouden allemaal Rand’s Helden worden: in controle zijn over ons eigen lot.
Het is een vreemde tijd. We weten nu dat de idee van markt-stabiliteit mislukt is. Maar we kunnen ons ook nog geen alternatief voorstellen. In de belofte van de Sillicon Valley zou de computer ons van alle oude vormen van politieke controle hebben bevrijd. We voelen nu het tegenovergestelde: dat we hulpeloze componenten zijn in een globaal systeem. Een systeem waarin we machteloos tegenover uitdaging of verandering staan.
